As the Gala parade travels through Keighley town centre there will delays. The parade is expected to arrive in Cavendish Street around 1:20pm, so motorists are advised that there may be delays when leaving the Sainsburys / Aldi car parks at this time.

The entrance to Bradford Road (A6035) from the Aire Valley Trunk Road (A650) will also be closed at this time, with traffic heading for Keighley town centre being re-routed back onto the A650.

The Gala Committee have confirmed that the parade route for this year's gala will be shorter than last year.

The parade will form on Goulbourne Street, before turning onto South Street, Bridge Street, High Street, North Street, Cavendish Street and Bradford Road, finally arriving at Victoria Park.

The next Keighley Gala Committee meeting will be held at the Salvation Army Hall, Russell Street, on Tuesday 5th May at 7:30pm. Anyone who wishes to join the committee, or wants to help in any way with this year's gala, is very welcome to attend.

Earlier this year the Cout of Queens for the 2009 gala was held at Keighley Shared Church Hall. From the three who attended, Rebecca Lund was chosen as Keighley Gala Queen 2009.

Rebecca is 14 and attends Oakbank School. She'll be crowned on Gala Day, Saturday 4th July, which will mark the start of the day's festivities. Rebecca's attendants are Amy Verity (Junior Queen), Lucy Shutt (Princess), Tamara Miller (Rosebud), and Zain Miller (Pageboy).

Rebecca succeeds the current gala queen, Rebecca Whiteley.

The new-look Keighley Gala website has been launched today. Whilst the site has similar content to before, we've completely revamped the look and feel - we hope you like it!

We'll also be taking the opportunity to rework the 'Gallery' section, which will be known as the 'Previous Galas' section. There will be a page for each year, going back as far as 2003. We hope to take this even further!
